How does it work?
This is a
“walk-a-thon” type of event. Participants collect
Paid
Pledges using the preferred On-Line
Pledge System and
bring their pledge sheets and any other money collected to the registration desk at Burlington mall
on the date of the event. You will be registered as a walker, hand in
any money you collected and then walk a
predetermined route of approximately 1 km and return to the registration area
for refreshments. Tax receipts will be issued by the
Rotary Club of Burlington North Foundation Inc. for all paid pledges over $10.00 and
sent to you to distribute to your sponsors.
Where does the money go?
The net
proceeds will be split equally between the Spina Bifida & Hydrocephalus
Association of Ontario and The Rotary Club of Burlington North Foundation Inc.
Tips on how to increase your
sponsorship levels:
-
Develop
a prospect list of friends, family, co-workers and tell them what you are
doing and where the money is going.
-
Send them an
email asking them to
sponsor you or your team using the On-Line Pledge
System.
-
Carry
the pledge sheet with you every day and ask for pledges.
-
Have
someone you know pledge $20.00 or more in the first box….it will encourage
others to be generous. Sponsors usually look to see what others have given
first.
Frequently Asked Questions:
How old
do I have to be to walk? There is no age limit and we expect to have walkers
of all ages.
What if
I want to walk but can’t be there on the day of the event? You have two
choices. You can walk the week before and send in your pledges on the day of the
event with another person, or you can send or arrange for someone to walk in
your place. Both the Rotary Club and The Spina Bifida & Hydrocephalus
Association have volunteers who will walk for you.
Who will
be walking? We expect a large number of participants from all walks of life. Of
course there will be walkers from the Rotary Club and The Spina Bifida &
Hydrocephalus Association.
